Mom. Teacher. Tree-Hugger...
I'm a proud mother of a game-designing son, who has also spent the last 20 years as a Special Education Teacher. I absolutely LOVE discovering fun & innovative ways, WAY outside of the box, to help all children learn.
One day I had an idea to bring a garden to my elementary school, thinking how fun it would be to utilize garden education to teach children across the curriculum. I shared my idea with some other innovative teachers, who jumped on board and together, we developed The Bullock Garden Project, with help from some INCREDIBLE Green Industry leaders and sponsors. Little did I know, being so involved in this project would, literally CHANGE MY LIFE! Along with a passion for finding ways to integrate garden education into school curriculum, I have become passionate about ensuring children have truly healthy food options around them. A wonderful result of following that passion is how it has branched off into my own life.
A woman who has struggled with mastocytosis, Hashimoto's Disease, hypothyroidism, Fibromyalgia, Insomnia, (I could probably keep going and going) I decided I needed to practice what I preach, and start living a healthy lifestyle.
This blog is my journey about how I went from a woman who was obsessed with designer shoes, purses, and clothes to feeding her obsession with heirloom seeds, beneficial bugs, and organic gardening at home. I journeyed from a person who would NEVER chance breaking a nail, to using my freshly manicured nails to dig in the dirt.
